The game is divided into three sections: the autonomous period, the driver control period, and the end game. During the autonomous period, robots must complete tasks running only on pre-programmed code. During the driver control period, two drivers manually control the robot with game joysticks to score the most balls they can. Lastly, during the end game, drivers have the choice to complete bonus objectives for major points, or continue to keep on scoring game elements.
The autonomous period lasts 30 seconds. A robot can attempt to press a button on a beacon. Which ever colored side it presses, that colored team receives 20 points; therefore, it is possible to accidentally score for the opposing team. When the beacon is triggered once, the color that is triggered becomes brighter, and when it is pressed a second time, the whole beacon becomes that color. The beacon can be triggered twice during autonomous, so one team can get a maximum of 40 points. Each robot can choose to load two climbers into their robot. Each climber scored in the alliance specific shelter receives 10 points. At the end of autonomous, the robot can be parked on the mountain, in the beacon repair zone, or in the floor goal. If it is partially on the low zone of the mountain, the team receives five points. A team receives 10 points for being fully in the low zone, 20 points for being fully in the mid zone, and 40 points for being in the high zone. A team receives five points for being either in the floor goal or the beacon repair zone.
Driver Control Period
The driver control period lasts for two minutes, with 30 seconds overlapping with the end game. For each debris on the floor goal, the team gets one point. If a debris is placed in the low goal, the team gets five points. For a debris in the mid goal, the team gets 10 points. For a debris in the high goal, the team gets 15 points. If a zip line climber is released, the team earns 20 points no matter who released it. For each climber in the shelter, the team receives 10 points. The climbers put in during autonomous will be counted again.
At the end of the end game, the team gets points depending on where the robot ends up. 5 points for being partially on the low zone, 10 points for being fully on the low zone, 20 points for being on the mid zone, 40 points for being on the high zone. The team will receive 80 points if it is able to be fully supported by the cliff pull-up bar. The first team to trigger the all-clear signal on a mountain receives 20 points. A team can receive 40 points by triggering the all-clear signal on both mountains.
